Description:
|
Harris is confident that Angie’s new partner Sean Hunter is the serial killer. Grilling Hunter at PHQ, Harris questions Hunter on why he didn’t reveal that the two recent murder victims were former patients at his psychiatric clinic. Hunter plausibly argues that it was just a horrible coincidence. Harris doesn’t buy this. He kicks him off the case.
Angie has been watching. She is firmly on Hunter’s side and tells Harris so. Chatterly arrives and casts further doubt on the serial killer theory. It looks like one of the women was killed by her husband, Steve Warlow.
Chris goes undercover at a backpackers’ hostel trying to get the goods on Steve Warlow. Warlow, however, is not all he seems. He is in fact grieving the loss of his wife in his own unique way - which involves snorting her ashes.
With Warlow off the hook, Harris takes himself off his medication, determined to get the edge he needs to find hard proof on Hunter. To that end, he subpoenas the HIC records of all Hunter’s patients. He tasks Sophie with the mammoth job of looking for other possible victims from Hunter’s past.
Sophie strikes pay dirt, but not how Harris imagined. It seems the serial killer is convicted murderer Max Manton. Church goes undercover looking for evidence against Manton. Manton, however, twigs he’s a cop and bolts.
The next morning Sophie is late coming in for work. When she’s finally found with her wrists slashed and deeply unconscious, all indications are that Manton targeted her. Harris however still clings to his belief that Sean Hunter is the serial killer.
Unperturbed by Harris’s position, Hunter asks Angie to marry him. On Angie’s request, Harris delivers to Angie their signed divorce papers, using it as an opportunity to plant Sophie’s DNA on Sean Hunter’s clothing.
Much to Harris’s pleasure, Manton is eliminated as a suspect and he instigates a forensic search of Sean Hunter’s house. Sean Hunter is arrested after the discovery of Sophie’s DNA.
