Description: When a Filipino girl is murdered, Undercover are enlisted to catch the killer. Harris orders Flynn to track down and question Graham Carmody who discovered the body. Under questioning by Harris, Carmody reveals the girl’s connection to an illegal brothel, known as The Serpent Club.

Church uses Carmody to introduce him to the club’s owner, Mark Simpson. Church wins Simpson’s confidence when he intervenes in an attack on Simpson by a woman, who enters the club screaming for her daughter to be returned to her. Church sets up a deal to buy a girl, but when he arrives for the sting, he discovers Simpson beaten to death.

Searching for the murder weapon, Church spies the woman who attacked Simpson. She drives off, but he sees her number plate and IDs her as Janene Eason. Under questioning, Janene reveals that Simpson was acquitted of the kidnap/murder of her daughter, Miranda, two years previously, but she believes her daughter (whose body was never found) to still be alive and in Simpson’s clutches.

With Simpson’s DNA matched to the Filipino girl’s crime scene, it is now Simpson’s murder that becomes the new focus. Janene Eason is prime suspect. Harris posits that proving Miranda is dead would enable them to pressure Janene. Angie questions Judge Collin Burns from the Simpson trial, who is adamant that Miranda was killed by Simpson. When it’s discovered, though, that Simpson telephoned Judge Burns the night before his murder, a new twist presents itself.

Harris targets Burns and attempts to blackmail him over the phone call. Burns doesn’t bite. Homicide turns up Simpson’s murder weapon, leading them to known crook, Frank Pike. Questioned, Pike reveals that Janene hired him to beat the whereabouts of her daughter out of Simpson, but he went too far.

Just when it seems case closed, Harris gets a call from Burns - he wants to buy Harris’s silence. Harris listens as Burns tells him he wants Harris’s promise not to mention “the girl”. Harris hypothesises that Burns and Simpson were co-conspirators in Miranda Eason’s kidnapping, and orders Angie and Church to search the house. Here they discover Miranda in the basement. Instead of expressing relief, Miranda tries to shoot them.

Under questioning Miranda appears to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Both her and Burns’s story - that they met after Miranda’s 18th birthday - match perfectly. Just when it seems that Burns will get away, Miranda collapses, and is revealed to be three months pregnant. As the pregnancy predates her 18th birthday and contradicts the Burns/Miranda story, Burns is finally arrested.

And meanwhile, Angie has a tentative first date with Sean Hunter, while Harris goes in undercover as a patient in Sean’s office to suss out his newest rival for Angie’s affections.
