Description:
|
Church and Gray have been working a stolen goods racket to bust a big time crook known simply as the Coyote. The case seems lost when their informant, Jerry, unwittingly exposes Church as a cop to the Coyote’s associates. Jerry then persuades a reluctant Church to continue with the case, claiming he has known the Coyote’s identity all along, and that he can get Church inside running on a “special job” the Coyote wants done.
According the Jerry, the Coyote, aka Donald Wylie, runs a chain of Electrical stores. Church meets with Donald and the case is pushed in a new and unexpected direction when Donald reveals the “special job” to be a hit on his wife, Rowena. Donald wants crime scene photos as proof of the kill, so Harris orders Church to approach the wife and seek her assistance.
Gray assists Church in taking crime scene photos of Rowena. But a spanner is thrown into the works when Donald (despite Church’s warning to stay away from the house) arrives to collect the downpayment money from a safe in the study. Unbeknown to Church, he spies Rowena and Church (with his back to him) through the window. Later, when Church meets with him to collect the downpayment, Donald renegotiates for two hits. Donald presents Church with a picture of the man he saw Rowena with. Despite Church’s fear that he’s been sprung, the photo is of Gray.
Gray, meanwhile, has developed a crush on Rowena, but when he turns up with pizza at the motel the police have booked her into, he discovers Rowena in the company of another man.
Church meets with Donald at his warehouse to make the final deal. Donald, however, has recognised Church’s car from the house, and has surmised that Church is the one who had sex with his wife before killing her. In a jealous rage, he pulls a gun on Church, but Flynn and Gray swoop just in time. Under questioning, Donald denies being the Coyote. He tells the cops that his brother, Steve, is the stolen goods king, and that he merely helps out now and then with transport. Donald produces a photo of Steve from his wallet to try and convince a sceptical Church and Gray, and Gray recognises him as the guy he found in Rowena’s motel room.
Church offers Donald a letter of comfort if he helps in stinging his brother. When the sting goes down, however, Donald once again produces a gun and tries to kill the man he suspects of cuckolding him. Megan shoots Donald dead in defence of Steve.
Gray is reprimanded by Harris when the gun Donald has used is found to be his, while Church consoles a distressed Megan by offering to cook dinner for her. Megan just wants to go home and cry herself to sleep, or so she tells Church, but when we subsequently see her meeting with a man at the pub who turns out to be Steve, we suspect that our new u/c operative isn’t all that she seems to be.

Steve Bisley and Tottie Goldsmith guest star as husband and wife Donald and Rowena Wylie in this week’s episode of the undercover police drama. But we quickly learn there’s certainly no love lost between the two. Convinced Rowena is having an affair, the sleazy Donald hires Church who is working undercover – to kill her.
