Oscar Stone another constable in the undercover unit, who is often involved in the technical sides of the stings. He is known to setup and operate most of the 'bugs', cameras and other techincal tools used in setting up the 'stings', whilst still going undercover on a large amount of occasions. His real name is Cameron Pearce.

Since Oscar joined the unit, he has been to be interested in Angie Piper, and has an on-again/off-again relationship with her. But recently, he came forward and told told her they both knew it never would have worked, which he couldn't believe he was saying.

His family live out on a farm in country Victora, who he sees ever so often.

Stone tragically lost his life in mid 2002, during a shooting while looking after Marty Ingle, a police informant, when he jumped in the line of the bullet heading towards Church. At the same time he was battling cancer. While the medical unit were trying to save Stone's life, Church claimed to be his brother, in order to get access to the medical records, and made the though decision to turn off Stone's life support, infront of the rest of the undercover unit.

Ian was born in 1969 in the central Queensland town of Barcaldine and grew up in Dalby, Mackay, then Brisbane. The son of a Uniting Church minister, he has two sisters, Susan and Tresona, and a brother, Darryl.

When he completed his year 12 in '86 at BBC he wasn't happy with his TER score and so he went about getting a job. In '89 he went back to high school and got a better TER score, Then he went on to study Commerce Law at UQ. He paid his way by working as an assistant nurse at the Holy Spirit, he was interested, at the time, in becoming a doctor.

In 1990 Ian finished Year 12, put Universty on hold and took a year off to see the world before studying Commerce Law. During the trip, he discovered his passion in life – acting.

Ian was in a Rome hotel when he met actor Frank D’Ambrosio during the filming of Francis Ford Coppola’s GODFATHER III (Frank played Anthony Corleone). It was his last day in Italian capital but he accepted an invitation to go on set and before he knew it he was in a waiter’s costume as an extra in a party scene. He was hooked from the start.

“Acting found me,” he says. “I was fascinated by the people and the sense of community the cast and crew shared. I felt at home straight away and knew that acting was going to be my future.”

When Ian returned to Australia, he joined the Grin & Tonic theatre group and toured Queensland for two years performing Shakespeare. By 1996, he had graduated from NIDA, one of Australia’s most prestigious acting schools.

Soon after, Ian landed a regular role on the ABC’s CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL and also scored the sought after part of a wealthy Australian in the English comedy film, DINGLES DOWN UNDER. Shot in Port Douglas and Yorkshire, DINGLES DOWN UNDER was a huge hit in Britain.

Following a guest lead in MURDER CALL, Ian landed the biggest role of his career as Constable Oscar Stone in STINGERS and he has seen the character evolve over three series.

“Stone is someone who is passionate about his work but that doesn’t stop him having a good time,” he says. “I like the fact that he knows how to balance his job with an enjoyment of life.”

When he isn’t in front of the cameras, Ian enjoys golf, running, triathlons, AFL football (he supports St. Kilda), cooking and gardening. Another major interest is medicine. A keen pianist and singer, he is also working with wife Rachael Beck (Hey Dad, Me & My Girl, Les Miserables) on a variety of music projects, who he married in early 2001.

Ian's agent is Barbara Leane & Associates Pty Ltd.
